A short documentary by Mirko Cocco & Angelo van Schaik
Duration: 19 minutes (The Netherlands/Italy, 2017)
Following the intrusive documentary ‘Le Pantera della Polizia Italiana’ (2016), CineCars.eu now presents ‘Nato sotto il segno del Toro’, a documentary on the life and work of brilliant engineer and entrepreneur Ferruccio Lamborghini. In just nineteen minutes Mirko Cocco and Angelo van Schaik manage to travel deep into the soul of the Lamborghini family. Son Tonino and grandson Ferruccio Lamborghini relate with passion on the human being behind the Taurus logo.
Peasants son, soldier, entrepreneur, but most of all engineer, that is Ferruccio Lamborghini. Born in 1916 under the sign of the Taurus, he was raised in an era of war and crisis. Times when humanity showed its ugliest of faces. Also a period in which, ‘thanks’ to the ever persistent development of battle gear, the technical evolution is on a historical high. A progress that in the mind of Ferruccio Lamborghini seamlessly transforms into civil applications. Ideas he will implement successfully directly after World War 2. Lamborghini’s work is the trigger for a large scale mechanisation of Italian agriculture, of a more modern Italy.
In the documentary Tonino Lamborghini and his son Ferruccio relate on the passion of their father and grandfather. On his ever persistent quest for the best, the most beautiful application of the latest techniques. With the Museo Ferruccio Lamborghini in the background, they know that the passion for beauty never got in the way of Lamborghini’s engineering progress. That the love for lascivious designed GT cars never did cast a shadow on the passion for engineering. Those who have seen the master at work know no doubt, those who came into the world of Lamborghini at a later date can only long for a token of his genius. In only nineteen minutes ‘Nato sotto il segno del Toro’ brings you the intriguing story of a passionate man, who brought us an ever present urge to create, without which the world would have been a far less beautiful place.
