2017 brings us 70 years of Ferrari. Occasion to many a little celebration. CineCars took camera and notepad to Kasteel Amerongen to bring you a small impression.
Few car manufacturers tickle the imagination like Ferrari does. The name is synonymous for sportiness and exclusivity, but Ferrari also stands for passion and enthousiasm. Cars sporting the prancing horse logo on the bonnet will be stared at and admired by everyone, petrol head or not. Ferrari was there at the very beginning of Formula One and has been combining the glory of the sport with selling road cars ever since. Whoever finds himself lucky enough to buy one of these gems feels the presence of Ascari or Schumacher immediately. Cars like these bring a certain aura to its proprietor. Admiring gazes and looks of recognition will be his share. Unique to Ferrari are the Tifosi. You’ll find them in all ages and in all parts of society. They wear clothing in brand colours, sporting the prancing horse logo. They know the entire history of Ferrari by heart and can determinate every single model once produced by name. There isn’t a more dedicated non-clientele in the entire world.
When Dutch Ferrari dealer Kroymans organises a little party to celebrate the 70-year anniversary, Kasteel Amerongen is the meeting point for a tour with a large number of historic and modern Ferrari’s. On arrival we notice that fans have gathered in large numbers too. The roadside is packed with young lads trying to capture the thoroughbreds on camera. Meanwhile the grounds are flooded with Ferrari’s, where they are immediately surrounded by hordes of admirers. All around you hear people discussing the characteristics of every single vehicle, as if it is an oral Ferraristi exam. No detail is left unmentioned. Little children caress the sumptuous curves of the cars, mothers take pictures of their brood in front of the Ferrari of choice. To send to grandma, or that one uncle that is so very fond of cars as well. Grown up men scout the grounds in a more casual way. The look in their eyes however giving away their secret daydreams. To drive one of these just for once, maybe own one, it’s the ultimate dream of everyone here.
Kroyman’s big treat is the presence of a genuine LaFerrari Aperta Limited Edition. Like true Royalty she is brought into Amerongen on a trailer. A three point five million Euro motorcar you don’t just park amongst the commons. No wonder the car is being watched over by several security guys. Kroymans didn’t have to be afraid, the Tifosi will never vandalise this car, it is their Holy Grail. A unique possibility for the fans to stand face to face with their idol. When the tour commences and the parade leaves the square, the crowd forms a corridor of enthousiasts waving the cars goodbye. Scenes that are usually reserved for Heads of State or movie stars. It is typical for a manufacturer like Ferrari. Icons will be adored. It’s the magic of the prancing horse.
